Wedding Reception Song Choice (part 1)
Wedding Reception Song Choice
We’ve all been to wedding receptions, the awkward wait while the bridal party disappear and get photos taken before the light disappears can make your guests either a) drink the bar dry, or b) sit and suffer through uncomfortable chit chat with the other strangers at their table. You need to get them back at their full potential to kick off the reception and set the tone for the party ahead.
The best way to set the mood for your wedding comes down to the way you choose to kick it off. I’m talking the official entrance of the Bride and Groom – Mr and Mrs Newlywed. I’m going to share a few hints and tips with you based on common wedding reception “personalities”, and what wedding song choices to play at your reception to suit your mood.
1. The Party – Wedding Reception Song Choices
This is our favourite of all receptions – it’s been a massive day and what better way to finish it than having a great time with 80 of your closest friends and family? They are all there to honour your commitment to each other and this is a milestone that needs to be celebrated. Gather the bridal party outside of the reception and get your MC to have everyone standing up, clapping and dancing – (think theE Ellen Show start). One by one introduce the members of the bridal party and get them to come in clapping to the beat and creating a guard of honour inside the doorway. Finally as the song builds get the guests to cheer as they welcome the guests of honour – the Bride and Groom! By this stage they should be pretty excited, have the bride and groom walk in the doorway, flanked by their bridal party, pose for a kiss (there will be photos) and dance together through their bridal party, who follow in turn and proceed to the bridal table.
For those of you familiar with the movie “Hitch” – think the final wedding scene as they roll the credits. Here’s the clip from Youtube for those who haven’t seen it:
